Shooting the video for You & I in London

02.03.2008 15.21

So, to update you on my recent trip to London. I have had a very busy week, with photoshoots, shooting the video for my next single, You & I, and lots of meetings with my Team.

I shot the video for You & I on Wednesday 27th February.  It was a very long day, over 20 hours work! It was very successful and I can't wait for you to see the video, it is definitely my best one so far! So, I left my hotel at 6.30am to go to the East London location. The video location was a loft-style apartment which was made to look like a recording studio. When I arrived at 7am, there was already a flurry of activity going on behind the scenes. My hair stylist, fashion stylist, make-up artist, choreographer, drummer, guitar player, backing singers, bass player and about 20 film crew were there waiting for me.

After being styled, we started the shoot. It was like a proper band rehearsal, except it was being filmed. Not only was there a film crew shooting the video, but also three separate film crews who were doing features about me too so it was very busy in there. MTV were doing a behind the scenes special about me and also the MTV Celebrity Chart in which celebrities choose their top 10 favourite songs (which I can tell you more about when it has aired) and Estonian National TV who were  doing a feature about me on their version of 60 minutes, Pealtagija, which is quite a serious topical show in Estonia. It is not everyday that Estonian singers get the opportunity to have International careers so I hope this programme will act as inspiration for other young girls and boys who dream of having International pop careers like I did.

The video doesn't have a storyline as such - we wanted to leave it up to fans' interpretation, but loosely it was about the relationship between musicians and the emotions of playing with a band. We shot solidly, doing re-takes where necessary, until 7pm so already, 12 hours later, everyone was pretty exhausted! Then came the three TV features, for which I was doing interviews with the team and my film crew were talking to them about the shoot too, giving an overview of what had been going on during the day.

After we finished the TV features and were happy with the footage we got from the apartment, we ventured out into the London night to shoot the final scenes. The three locations we visited and shot at were Soho, Regents Street and Battersea Bridge. It was freezing cold but we got some great shots so it was well worth it in the end. We finished up at 2am!

I had a photoshoot on Friday 29th and I will upload some pictures from the day very soon so check back!

Here are some photos from the video shoot...
